Compare and Contrast Korea and Japan

Have you ever seen a football game which is Korea versus Japan? Korea and Japan seem so close geographically, but actually the distance between them is very far. However, they have been rapidly closing the distance recently with some events like the 2002 Korea Japan World cup. There are parallels not only football game, but also people, geography and culture in both of them.

There are some important similarities between Korea and Japan. First of all, They are similar in physical appearances. Although Koreans are the tallest people in Asia, Japanese people are not that tall. Their skin features such as ear, eye, mouth, and nose are similar to each other. Japanese are just taller than some South East Asian countries like Thai, Vietnam or Malaysia. Besides, probably because of the military service in Korea, Korean men are heavier than Japanese men. Thus, I think that Koreans are more similar to Western people when it comes to physical appearances.
Second, both have a developed public transportation system ,which allow them to travel anywhere in one day. If you have a boarding pass ,you can go safely anywhere that you want to go even at midnight. Third, as the their market becomes more competitive, the education and training in the two countries becomes more important compared with others. The cost of private education is often beyond the average family's ability to pay in two counties.

They are dissimilar in geographic characteristics. First of all, Korea and Japan are geographically different. As you can see on a world map, Korea is a peninsula but Japan consists of thousands of islands. Because of the geo graphic conditions, historically, Koreans have eaten more meat, unlike the Japanese people who have had more sea food. Additionally, when it comes to the spread of culture, especially, Buddhism or Confucianism was spread from China continent to the Korean peninsula, and then from Korea to Japan’s islands. Second, their characteristics are quite dissimilar due to history and the geographic condition. Koreans who have lived in a peninsular, like Italian, are relatively aggressive and argumentative. This is the reason why Koreans sometimes look impolite or careless, but they are just blunt. On the other hand, Japanese people seem to be courteous, but they are subtle. They are so diplomatic that almost all foreigners like and respect them. Indeed, their successful globalization has been based on their diplomatic temper.

In conclusion, both of them are so industrious, it will be much closer in the future, as long as they make efforts in various ways while using well similarities, dissimilar such as geography, people, culture, I supposed.

New Year’s Day in Korea

Do you want earn pocket money while you are enjoying delicious Korean traditional food?
Not all countries celebrate New Year at the same time, nor in the same way. This is because people in different parts of the world use different calendars. But in my case, New Year’s Day is one of the most interesting holiday because this day include several special event, food, playing.
We also have diverse traditions, such as striking a bell at Jong-ro Ave in Seoul, people would wear the Hanbok, the Korean traditional clothing. In the morning, we are doing a formal bow of respect to our elders. They say, "Happy New Year!" Everyone says good-bye to the old year and hello to the new one! a variety of food are prepared and arranged on the table. These food are for our ancestors and we bow to them. This ceremony is called Charae. After the ceremony, all relatives eat these food together.
Usually, we eat DDukguk which is a soup with white sliced rice cake. Traditionally on this day, most Korean believe that eating rice cake soup makes us get one year older, so usually Korean eat rice cake soup on this day.
Usually most Korean are playing traditional playing , first Jae-Gi that is similar as kicking soccer ball, enjoying Yut-nol-ri that looks like a board game.
The reason why I like this holiday is new years day is a lot of fun and let me make plans for a coming new year.

My favorite place in UW campuse

My favorite place in UW campuse is ordegaard library. whenever I meet

my friends, I make appointments to meet at there. In my thought, this

place makes me recall as my best my best place. Also when I stay at

there, I can see a lot of cosmopolitan UW students who have an

individual feature. There are many comfortable benches and teraces that

provide rest places to study, waiting someone, and talking with friends.

When I want to drink a coffee, I can grab coffee at the down floor. And

whenever I bring my bicycle, especially on a rainy day, the library gives

me a safe parking lot to protect from rain. When I standing in front of the

library, I can concentrate on the surrounding atmosphere. Also I can see

authentic UW campuse views those are such as Suzzallo library of the

most beautiful architectural, statue of symbol of UW, a huge square and I

can smell different kind of humanity. I can also hear sounds that someone

glad to meet one's friends. The reason why I love this place is Odegaard

library give me variety happiness.

Poem

I am a benevolent and brave lion.
I wonder where my sweet honey is.
I hear the moon's whinning like a baby.
I see the moon as bright as the noonday sun.
I want to soothe a crying baby.
I am a benevolent and brave lion.

I pretend to be as sweet as honey.
I feel that she is as lonely as a leaf in the fall.
I touch a leaf as soft as silk.
I worry about the falling leaf.
I cry while praying for the moon.
I am benevolent and brave lion.

I understand that each person has the perfect mate.
I say I know it is you.
I dream of flying to the moon.
I try to reach out and hold your hand.
I hope we are going to be Rabbits in the moon.
I am a benevolent and brave lion.

Farewell travel

I am trying to say about my farewell travel for joining military service in Busan five years ago. The day before joining the Korean army. I took a tripe to Busan with my friends.

We met early in the moring and we took the train for five hours reached to Busan.
Although I used to go to sea when I was young, Traveling with my friends is more exciting for me.
In addition, It was my last free time to enjoy before I was divested my freedom from army.

During this time, we ate delicious and fresh raw fish, while drinking. At this time, they all praised for me. We took pictures of the beautiful and funny scene while lighting fireworks on the white sand beach. Especially, fresh ocean breeze and beautiful night spectacle made us excited.

Also, when waves touched our feet, we all felt rejuvenated. It was one of the most memorable trips in my life.
